why volunteer with us?

We get that many Armed Forces spouses and partners want to feel more than just a homemaker or caregriver.

It can get lonely when you are shouldered with household and parental responsibilities, without family or friends close by. It can feel like your whole world stops.

Volunteering can give you back a sense of belonging and value, working with a friendly team who will help you find a position that’s right for you.

You may be wondering…

  • We’ll help you find a position that suits you and give you opportunities to learn, upskill and grow. Our ethos is to provide you with skills you can take with you, wherever the next posting might be.

  • We understand that Armed Forces life can be far from straightforward, and unexpected family responsibilities may come up. Our positions are flexible and designed with the ups and downs of Armed Forces spouse and partner life in mind.

  • Yes. Our employees usually start off as volunteers, and use their time to discover the parts of the role they love. So they can pick an employee's position that suits them best, when one arises. You can scroll down to see our current job opportunities.

“You get the opportunity to work to your strengths. They listened to what I needed from them. My knowledge and experience was valued and trusted.” - Molly

We believe Armed Forces spouses and partners can achieve amazing things, yet finding employment is challenging due to the need to be flexible.

By working with others within the Catterick estate, you’ll find a job that fits your lifestyle, working alongside people who can relate to your daily challenges.

“ When I took the job on, it opened my world to other people in the community, we’re all helping each other out. For years I was just Freddie's mum and I felt invisible. I love being more than just ‘mum’, I never thought I’d get a job again ”

- Amy Manuel (Bramble Woods, Catterick Site Manager)

We have very exciting news, we have been successful with the Shared Prosperity Fund and in June we will have an industrial polytunnel built on site. This will provide 100 brand new allotment beds, including 70 which will be available for hire by for the local community. It will arrive on 3rd June and on 6th and 7th June we will be having two fabulous community volunteer days to get the polytunnel ready for opening. Everyone is welcome - for information please email Amy.

The unused meadow in Bramble Woods is being transformed this summer into a Pollinator Orchard, this will be a brand new community space dedicated to peace and tranquillity, and will include a range of fruit trees, two bee hives and some beautiful flower beds.

A huge thank you to Molly, our Volunteer Manager for the past year, who is going on Maternity Leave at the end of May. Congratulations Molly and thank you for all your hard work over the past year.
